Before and After: The Invisible Becomes Visible
Something extraordinary happens when someone is given a simple invitation to create.
Not to perform.
Not to impress.
Just to express.
This Art Break is designed to help people take what they are carrying inside and give it form, movement, and transformation.
Art Break Materials:
Keep it simple. This is not about perfection.
- Paper or sketchbooks
- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
- Optional: watercolor, pastels, collage materials
- A table and a few chairs
- A quiet, welcoming space
Art Break Directions:
1. Set the Space. Create an environment that feels open and safe. No pressure. No judgment. No expectations. A simple table is enough. The invitation is what matters.
2. The First Creation. Use the following prompt to create a work of art. Create something that represents what you’re carrying right now. Spend about 10-15 minutes creating. Don’t worry about making something, just dive in and express yourself.
3. The Transformation. Now, transform your artwork. Add color of a new color. Use a new medium on top fo the work you just created. Cut it up and glue it on to a new piece of paper. Whatever you think of first, go with it. Spend 10-15 minutes doing this step.
4. Pause and Witness. Sit and look at what you created. Notice the changes you added during the second art making stage. Did anything shift for you emotionally, mentally, physically? Make note of that.
5. Share. Feel free to connect with us and share your art break. We’d love to see it!

Why This Art Break Matters
This is more than an art activity. It’s a moment of agency. A moment of connection. A moment of truth. A realization that you can transform what you’re holding onto right now.
Art doesn’t change the world all at once.
It changes people, moment by moment.
And people change everything.
Happy Art Breaking!
