Collective Love
Take an Art Break Inspiration from Co-founding Director, Lisa Rasmussen
Spread some collective love and create a memorial for everyone and everything you love.
To begin, take your journal and just start a stream of consciousness writing about who and what you love. Just let it all flow out without re-reading it or checking your sentence structure, grammar or spelling. Just dive in, let go and let your entire self express what you are thinking and feeling on the page.
After your writing session (I’d give it at least 10 minutes), take some time to think about what a memorial to honor love might look like. I highly encourage you to create this outside for strangers to experience. You will more than double the impact. But, if that’s not feasible, don’t let it stop you from creating that memorial. The process itself will come with a great deal of healing.
Check out what I stumbled upon the other day on the pier in Huntington Beach, California.
Although I don’t know what it was for exactly, it kindled something inside me and spoke to my experience of love.
Feel free to share your art break with us (here) and we’ll post it in our Art Break Gallery (here) and possibly even make it a featured artwork for our monthly postcard mailing (sign up for that here).
