Take An Art Break

Paint the Power

The world is shifting rapidly. From headlines to heartbreaks, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or powerless. But we’re here to remind you – you are not powerless. You are a living, breathing creative force. You can shape the story. You can embody the change. You can color outside the lines of despair and draw a new future.

Your art is not a luxury – it’s a lighthouse.

We invite you to Take an Art Break not just as a creative pause – but as a radical act of self-empowerment and collective transformation.

Take an Art Break: Create a “Power Portrait” for positive change

What’s a portrait?

A portrait is traditionally a visual representation of a person – usually focusing on their physical features, face, or expression. It’s often used to capture likeness, personality, or presence.

What’s a Power Portrait?

A Power Portrait goes beyond appearance. It captures how it feels to be rooted in your truth – calm, clear, unshaken. It’s not about how you look. It’s about who you are when nothing needs to be performed. An honest reflection. A quiet statement of strength.

Art Break Supplies:

Use paint, pencil, collage, mud, flowers, glitter, charcoal, shadows, or stars – whatever.

Art Break Directions:

  1. Draw, collage, paint, photograph, (whatever) yourself NOT through the eyes of others, but through the feeling of being fully you –
    when your voice rings clear,
    your heart stays open,
and your strength rises from somewhere deep and steady.
    Not loud. Not forced.
    Just true.
    Just rooted.
    Just alive.
  2. Write, draw, or collage “I am the positive change” onto your artwork.
  3. Place it where it can breathe:
    • On your fridge
    • In your mirror
    • In a window
    • On a comminity bulletin board
    • Online for the world to witness
