Release & Renew: Creative Journaling

We all carry pieces of the past. Some of these memories, habits, and ideas may have once made sense, but no longer reflect who we are today. This Art Break offers a simple way to let go of what’s outdated and make room for clarity, connection, and genuine gratitude.
Art Break Materials:
- Any kind of paper
- Magazine that you can tear or cut apart
- Glue
- Pen or Markers
- Paint (Optional)
- Crayons or Oil Pastels(Optional)
- A candle (for ambience, not symbolism)
Art Break Directions:
- Draw a single line down the middle of your page. Feel free to use a journal if you already have one.
- On the left side, write, draw, or collage what you’re ready to release.
- Be real and honest.
- It doesn’t need to be near or poetic.
- Now on the right side, write, draw or collage what you want to invite to grow in your life.
- Take a few moments to look at the artwork as a whole. Be open for an answer and ask it, “What do you need me to know?”
- Pick one of the following actions to take on the left side of the page:
- Tear it off
- Paint over it
- Fold it and tuck it under something
- Place it outdoors under a rock
- Take the right side of the page and place it somewhere you will see it often (your mirror, fridge, night stand, etc.)
When you turn a moment of letting go into something intentional, you create space in the body and in the mind. You choose a direction rather than drift into one. You honor the deeply human truth that transformation is possible in small, everyday gestures.
